Ringlang cracked

So I went stage two on my 07 Sti a few days ago with an invidia downpipe and HKS Hi power, and went stage 2 on the Cobb Accessport I picked up and immediately started having sputtering problems. A little at first, then more and more. While running the live feed it gave me cylinder 4 misfires. After taking it to Capitol Subaru I was told that I overboosted and the ringlang cracked. Had the car for less than a month so pretty bummed.

The problem is that I want to take it to EQ for an engine rebuild and protune, but my dad wants to take it to some shop in Sunnyvale called 888 auto corp. Apparently he "trusts" them and their work. Anyone know anything about 888 Auto Corp or how I would convince my dad otherwise

A cracked ringland usually shows white smoke out of the tailpipe and also if you open the oil cap with the engine running "white smoke". how many miles? did you buy from capitol subaru? still covered by powertrain warranty? If I were you I would only take it to a shop with expertise in building subaru motors

I have heard of 888 Auto Corp, but I thought they were only a broker.

I think your pops would respect if you said you want to get a second opinion at EQ and then once they give you some more info, relay to pops and go from there.

my dad always respected the 'second opinion' situations. perhaps work for you also?

I wouldn't bring your car to 888 Auto. They're a Chinese based car broker (w/ generic repair/service capability) but probably won't know squat about your car/Suby's.

They might be able to get you a slammin' deal on a fobalicious new Camry though!

Tell your dad to call Ed himself. He will be convinced quickly.

Betcha anything the real damage was caused by the factory tune and the added boost drove the nail into your car's coffin.

Good idea. Have your dad give us a call to discuss the options. We'll be happy to explain our procedures and any details he may be interested in.

Thanks

I can see some white smoke coming out the oil cap and tailpipe. The car has about 36k miles. No i bought it from a private dealer, and it only had the basic warranty never powertrain.

I actually called EQ twice in the last 2 days to talk to you but you were in tuning yesterday and not in today. The car has actually been tuned by you previously via original owner. Is there a way my dad could talk directly to you, seeing as how calling EQ often doesn't result in that.

If you request that Ed personally calls you back, it may take time if he is tuning but I've always had a response by end of day...Ed spends way more time than he really has to just to make sure the map is solid for the application. Another thing to consider is their general manager Brenden isn't just a gm. He used to be a mechanic at eq, has worked on my car numerous times, has ton of great information, and is well equipped to represent all the services offered....especially since he has personally performed them. The phone rings off the hook at EQ. A little patience goes a long way. Due to consistent service, i've done a built block with them and am now sourcing parts to go big turbo. +1 for a Subaru specialist, but +2 for Ed and Eq.

I apologize for the delay in returning your call. I can give you a call tomorrow morning and try to answer any of your questions. We could also schedule for you and your dad to come in to chat with us in person.

Thanks
