Ring around the Bay - Fun Drive
All,
This is being organized by a friend of mine. We've been talking about it for a month or so and he's finally gotten details figured out. Basically he wants to do a fun drive around the bay area this Saturday December 6th. Details below:
Okay, I finally sat my butt down to do some of this planning:
10-10:30am
Golden Gate Park meet-up (try to at least meet up even if you can't
make the rest of the trip)
GGB->101N->116E->121E
11:30-1pm
Napa meet-up. We should be in the Carneros region now, between Sonoma
and Napa. There should be many wineries we could stop off at along
121, before it changes to 29. We're going to have lunch here.
Location to be decided on the spot.
12E->680S->Ygnacio Valley Rd->Clayton->Mt. Diablo
2:30->3:15pm
Mt. Diablo meet-up and photoshoot.
Mt. Diablo->D&B
4->4:45pm
D&B meet-up. Catch some drinks, maybe some games.
880N->237W->101N->UniversityW->Cowper (L)->Hamilton (R)
5:15-7pm
Dinner. Mango Cafe. 435 Hamilton Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94034.
101N->380W->280N->19th->GGP.
We should be back where we started somwhere around 7:30-8pm.
I am not sure about the details on where to meet up initially for Golden Gate Park, but when I know I will post it. He is a 350Z owner and has posted on the Z boards. So for the moment he has a good handful of Z owners who are coming, but he asked me to post this here as well. This is a nice casual drive around the bay area. If anyone is interested, more people are definitely welcome. As I said, once I know the details about the meeting place, I'll let you know.

hmm.... sounds very tempting. are there going to be maps printed out for everyone? on such a long route, it's easy to get lost and separated from the group (red lights, etc).
keep us updated on the golden gate park meet up location.
might want to postpone it..

I hate to be a snob, and I have to say those are a couple of nice destinations, but that route kinda blows, lots of time possibly stuck on heavily trafficked highways, only a few twisties up and down Diablo.
The timeline is a little on the tight side given the possibility of traffic on the roads, but hey- at least somebodies doing a drive- it's better than no drive at all!
Have fun and let us know how it goes.

It's not an i-club thing. It's mainly going to be a Z thing, but my friend wants to stress that he welcomes any and all who want to come. If we get a good subie showing, we'd be happy about that. Details to follow, but the most important part (the day and overview) is known. Stay tuned!

Hi guys! I'm Kuonji's friend that's trying to organize this drive. As he said, we've been discussing this for about a month now, and I've only now worked out the details as he'd pasted them. The only addendum I have are as follows:
1. The meeting point for Golden Gate Park will be the California Academy of Sciences. The address is:
California Academy of Sciences
55 Concourse Drive
Golden Gate Park
San Francisco, CA 94118-4599
2. As Kuonji mentioned, this is a fun drive. A few basic rules:
a. Drive only what's safe. Since this is possibly going to be a rainy day, and a weekend, we might hit patches where we're going less than speed limit. It's okay. Anyone who drives recklessly will be ignored, and if that person gets in trouble, we don't know him/her.
b. No hating. We're all car enthusiasts. If we had all the money in the world, we'd have all the cool cars. But we don't. And it's a good thing, because it allows us to meet each other like this. If you're just kidding or trash-talking, make sure that's communicated.
c. Have fun!!!!!!
3. We'll designate phone contacts on the day. If turnout is good, we may need more than just Kuonji and myself to serve as communications hubs. All the organization of driving groups will be finalized at GGP, since if turnout is bad, we might not need to worry about it.
Any questions, just look up my profile and e-mail me. If this goes well, I've got a bigger one in store for next year.
