Riddle me this...
If the only way you can request an emergency exit seat is to show up in person (and prove your able-bodied-ness) at the gate of your flight (not the ticket counter), and I arrive 6 hours before my flight leaves (flight was delayed 3 hours), before there's even a gate person present (I'm told to come back at 2pm when the proper able-bodied verifying authorities will be here)... then how the fack am I being told there are no more emergency exit seats left!! I'm the only person in the frackin terminal!!! Heads will roll, if I don't get a damn emergency exit seat!!
And I now have 6 hours to kill in SFO. Shoot me now and put me out of my misery.

That sucks man I've had to do that a couple times because of delayed flights. Waste your money at the bar and try to find some celebrities. Don't get too drunk otherwise they won't let you on, which makes no sense since they serve alcohol on the plane. I've seen Yan Can Cook a few times, I think he owns one of the restaurants in the international building. Also Robin Williams, but there were a lot of people.

I requested one leaving chicago once and my brother was like WTF. Soon as sat in my seat he figured out why.
I'm flying overseas in a couple months. Either first class or in an emergency seat for damn sure.
I think they changed the rules. You can now book these seats in advance but it costs extra $$s.
BTW, if you are flying to the UK you may get lucky - it is relatively off-peak. I flew back two weeks ago and the plane was so empty I had the whole row to myself. I put up all the armrests and slept along the seats. Coming back was almost as quiet.

To top everything off. I just got word the $400 shipment I expedited to the UK for my show this weekend has not arrived and nobody knows where it is. I swear... if I don't get a guaranteed exit seat, I'm catching a taxi and going home. **** this ****e.
