Can someone please point me to where I can get a replacement 5 speed tranny. I know I should go to a 6 speed but I do not have the funds to go that route.

If your case is still in good shape you may just want to consider an STi-RA gearset swap. I know MPJ has a crazy deal on the swap. Zoeb won't quit yapping about how much he loves his. ;-)

One of the search results on keyword 'gearset' in this forum. May yield additional hits in Transmission Forum. RA gearset is popular less-expensive alternative to the 6MT when on a budget. Ask MPJ about 5th gear ratio options, which can be a concern with the standard RA gearset. I would like to get the gearset with the stock 5MT 5th gear for decent highway cruise economy.

I've seen the number of $2,600 floating around, though you'd probably want to get a quote staight from the horses mouth. ;-)

and just in case your tranny is bad, i have a spare tranny i want to let go for 700 + busted tranny. you know, just in case

 

Thanks for the replies. I got a PM from someone who will sell me their tranny. It has the RA gear swap and a cryo treated 5th gear. All for the price of the RA gear set. Can't pass it up. The only thing wrong with my tranny are the synchros, bearings and main shaft is bent. Other than that, case and gears are fine.
