red light camera ticket
anyone get 1 of these? i got lit up in SF last nite on Geary. do they take the pic from the front or rear? my gf saw the flash go on in front of the car.. I have no front plate. so i am hoping they take the pic from the front. i am not sure as i have never gotten a ticket from a camera before.
also, does it count like a regular ticket (ie speeding ticket.. 1 point and all that stuff)? any info is appreciated.

ticket
no front plate no ticket.... and i think that they passed a law here and you do have to pay...The pic is the proof that you ran the light.. thats why sf police trip off the front plate so much... no plate no ticket.. waste of money to put up the camera... The ticket is like $275 and 1 point..

What you should do if you still have a front plate is cover your face from the camera so the picture can't id the driver.
I generally hide behind my sunvisor when i go though one of thouse intersections.
But regardless it's crap, because it only hurts honest citizens who keep their front plate. IE ricer types don't get caught.

alan: it was 1 of those split second decisions where u are on the border. try to stop and maybe u end up stopped halfway into the intersection. plus i was mad tired which proly affected my judgement.
Last I heard they weren't issuing points for camera tickets because they can't verify that you were the driver (even with a picture it's hard - there's no officer to take your DL).
And yes, it's always the front plate, which means you should be scott free on this one

awwww poo poo
Funny someone said he was racing to sit on the other drivers seat.
There is case law available that would set the presidence to get you out of a ticket if you had to go to the bathroom. In the cases I have read, the "violator" claimed to have the runs, and as it was night time didn't feel safe going to a public restroom, and was speeding home to "go".
Just something to think about. Plus there would be no way to prove otherwise now that you have taken immoduim Ad...lol

i think there is a motion detector and if u are in there after a preset amount of time after the light turns red.. then blam! the camera goes off.
my gf drove through the intersection today and noticed the camera was actually on the side of the street. 90 degrees.. i think i tripped the camera for the perpendicular traffic. so they got a picture of the side of my car.

if you do get a ticket, you won't get a point from that since you have to be physically written up by an officer for a point to be issued (like what Kenn said) . you still would have to pay a fine though for running the light; if they got a shot of your plates.
