So our DIRECTV services have become quite costly and I was just seeing if there are any other tv services out there that you would all recommend.
Please guide me towards the right direction.
Thanks in advance for all input.

Your best (and most legal) solution is set up a little computer with windows near your TV and download/play movies/television shows in HD straight to your TV. This requires no fees after the initial setup and will last you forever.
Your other (least legal) option is to keep your satellite equipment and get yourself a recoded DTV card that unlocks all the channels including PPV 100% of the time. The going rate for someone to make you these is about 100-200 bucks a pop depending on the services you want, how much he likes you and what machine he's using to make the cards.

The best TV, in terms of quality goes in this order:
OTA (antenna - Digital)
Satelite - Dish Network
Fiber Optic - Uverse, FiOS
Satelite - DirecTV
Cable - Comcast
This is based on level of video compression and codecs used.
Now, keeping that in mind, you should look for what gives you the channels that you really want, and how many of those in HiDef already (if you already own and/or want Hi-Def)
Personally, and mostly due to the cost/channels (esp hidef) and technically (cause it's my background in HT components) I love Dish Network.
If you were to sign up today for dish network you could get 250 national channels for $48/mo (63/mo after 1 year). and for $10 more a month you can get another 80 channels in HiDef.
For the number of channels you get, esp in HD, at that quality, it can't be beat.
