I was looking around the other day for competition rally tires.
The best recommendation I got was the Kuhmo r700's. Unfortunately the r700s only come in sizes up to 15.

For any of oyu guys who rally your Sti, What do you recommend for competition rally tires. If wheel size differs from stock, what kind of rims do you recommend?

For an STi? That's the magic question. Or goal. Something like that.

Anyway, with your Brembos you're stuck with a 17" wheel, and although Pirelli apparently makes a 225/45-17" gravel tire, they are extrememly hard to find. A friend called around the US and UK looking for them to no avail. We found one source in the US who said he could import them, but only in lots of 50, and at $300 per tire, er, no.

You can fit 15" wheels over the STi 4 pots, but I'm not sure how "plug and play" that brake system is with the USDM STi. Maybe it's a non issue and it just works, but I don't know.

Also, the 06 USDM WRXes are supposed to be coming with the STi 4 pots, so hopefully that will bring the prices down (and hopefully I can use them on my 04 STi!)

 

thanks for the info.. seems like im severely limited in my choices.
the nice thing about the r700's aside from being a top rated competition offroad tire is that the most expensive ones you can get for about $80 a tire
