ah well that probably wont work. I would recommend any store that sells a variety of singles. I wish I knew of Kellys before I bought a ton of 6 packs trying out different stuff. I absolutely hate IPA. Dont know how you guys can stand that taste and I absolutely love lagers, specifically dark lagers.

If I'm not mistaken you can buy single bottles from that place so you don't have to buy the whole 6 pack just to try one beer.

Bevmo has a good selection of individual bottles. I would also reccomend Perry's liquors in Livermore and Monument Wine and Spirits in Concord. They have a lot of good craft beers

Im driving up there tomorrow. Cant wait! Havent been in over a year!

Truth is, your young. Enjoy being able to buy any kind of beer, **** beer to drink at parties or pricy beer to enjoy with a good meal/friend. My wife and I have been at it for years going to multiple Stone Brewfest's, driving all over to find a rare one off beer, and still buying **** beer to entertain many friends. My advice, enjoy it, find what suits you, and be responsible!

So... For beer recommendations, if you have not had much beer, definitely do not start with something hoppy. Even if you like hoppy beers and are going to try several, start with the least hoppy first.

For someone new to beer, it's pretty rare for someone to like a very hoppy ale as the first beer they have tried.

Also, buying 6-packs can get expensive, and have you end up with 5 beers that you don't want. If you go to Trader Joe's at all, they price beers by the bottle (even if you buy a sixxer) so you can get a great taste of a few decent beers. The one near me has 21st Amendment's brews, Lagunitas (you must try the IPA, but stay away from Hop Stoopid at least for a while - it's made with hop extract instead of hops and while I appreciate a hoppy beer, I did not like it at all. Tasted like chemicals to me, but I did try it bottled and never on tap). Pliny the Elder is a very good "fine" IPA, and you can get it on tap a few places around the Bay. Grab it if you see it, but it's not worth making any serious effort for it.

When taking beer advice from someone - NEVER under any circumstances, listen to someone who says ONE BEER is the best or anything like that. Best is different from favorite. There are a million different flavors of beer, and taste is very personal. Try them all! A great, wonderful starter beer is New Belgium's "Shift Pale Lager" - it's super good, more like a light ale, and still really tasty. Great place to start.

Mirror Pond is an excellent first "pale ale" experience, and Sierra Nevada Pale is good but better on tap (it's a different brew than the bottle).

Lastly, be careful with craft beer pouring. I have seen people make the mistake of trying to pour a single 22oz bottle of a craft beer into 3 glasses. The thing is, there is yeast at the bottom of the bottle, and while *some* beers are complimented by this, not all are, and it can lend an especially skunky bitter taste to the beer that may even put you off beer. As you tilt the bottle back to pour into each glass, it stirs up the yeast on the bottom.

Please note - all of the above just my opinion, it's worth what you paid for it, and it's definitely not worth getting anyone's panties bunched.

Enjoy the beer!

Firestone brews all of trader Joe's mission street beers.
