I believe reckless driving is a misdemeanor instead of an infraction. Your best bet is to contact a lawyer that has dealt primarily with that district's courthouse and judges.

hi! I was on the same boat as you are 3 years ago. I know how stressful it is to go through this S***. It's just mind boggling on what would happen next.
I was doing 110mph on I-5 (along TAFT, city) but when i got pulled over the cop was cool enough to write down on the ticket that i was just going 99.
but i believe he encirled that as an infraction on my ticket... i paid around $300 for the ticket and i can't go to driving school for that ( i guess its just too much that i have to wait for 3 years to delete it on my records.

113mph? well, good thing he didn't have u on hand calves and had your car towed... so just look at that as a bright side.
well, a lawyer sounds crazy but i think that's your best bet and they should know what to do or instruct you on tings.
Anyway, good luck and try to be apologetic write on the spot where he gave u ur ticket.. or/and (if ever) when u appear to court.
Keep us updated... and good luck!

hey Grnbean.
It's a undisclosed fine (decided by the judge) and 6 months revoke of your licence.
I'm sure the undisclosed amount would be lower in accordance with the situation; no traffic, day time, pregnant wife...

Definitely hire a lawyer. Reckless can carry the same penalties as a DUI (save for the DUI courses obviously), such as staying on your insurance for 7, not 3 years, loss of license and a fine bigger than my...well, it's big.

sorry to hear that grnbean... my friend got the same ticket 2 years ago on I-5. He had to go to court and ended up getting his license suspended for about 3 months. I'll find out how much it cost him and will let you know. I think the most expensive part was his insurance rates skyrocketing.

www.ticketassassin.com altho you were going 113mph..but since there was no car before you were pulled over.. therefore it should be a safe traveling speed at that time. You might be able to fight it. Check the link and it might help you out.

That sucks! Well, just chill dude! They're not going to take your license away unless you already have a couple or three points. This is definately a misdemeanor though which will now give you a criminal record! You will receive a nice hefty fine from the court and 2 points will go on your license from the DMV. You can always opt to pay your fine through comunity service, but my advice is to just buck up and pay it. You can consult with an attorney, but it will not improve your case. The judge will only stick to the facts, and that is you were going 113 in a 70mph zone. If you want a good laugh in the court room, go ahead and try and argue that 113 is a safe speed for that area as gruppe-s is suggesting. What you can do however, is ask the judge to expunge the misdemeanor charge from your permanent record once you have succesfully completed whatever probationary period he imposes. I have seen judges do this as a courtesy to first-time affenders.

Good Luck!
