whatever you do, do not put impact gun on it. that will destroy it. use alot of pb blaster and a breaker bar with a cheater bar on it and pull on it. im thinking you dont have enough ground clearance using a long breaker bar. i have a 2 1/2 foot 1/2 inch breaker bar whenever i do trans and diff service.
heat as in real flame+wd40+extending breaker bar with another long pipe works too.

Had the same problem when I removed mine the first time.
What I did was get one of these 1/2" bars...

- Jacked the rear of the car up and put it on stands
- Removed the rear-passenger wheel
- Stuck the 1/2" bar into a long pipe I purchased from a hardware store (at the time I used a pipe, now I used the handle from my jack
- Stuck the 1/2" bar into the plug, allowing the really long bar to extend past the fender
- Pulled up on the bar, while standing, until the plug turned.
Once the plug started to turn, I could use shorter levers to continue turning it (long bar -> 1/2" bar only -> 1/2" socket wrench).
It really did require a lot of force to get it to start turning. The first time I tried with the car on the ground (wheel on) and i started lightening the car on the suspension. When the plug finally turned, it didn't "pop", just turned smoothly - though with a good deal of effort.
