Random thought... what's it like to drive an s2000?

So lately I've taken notice to s2000's and I am considering trading in my 04 WRX for one. So who here has experience with s2000's and how would you rate them? I don't really need much room to move things, so cargo space isn't a huge issue, but aside from that, what are some pros and cons of a s2000? (Especially in terms of performance, insurance rates, overall joy of ownership, etc...)

I often see 40k-80k mileage s2000's on Craigslist going for around $16000-$17000; and I figure that's what my 2004 WRX is worth.

Also, anyone know of good s2000 forums? Honda tech is a pain to navigate

PURE SEX, handling puts the wrx to shame in stock form.

I considered buying one, but the whole sports car insurance was going to kill me.

My 2 cents...I like the S2000 too and many times I've told my friends that if I can afford it, I'd buy one BUT for practical reasons, I'll probably buy something else...IMO the S2000 is an excellent car but not to trade my sti for...

Just do what I did...get a Miata for cheap...well not cheap since mine's fixed up...and keep both

I think the S2k looks pretty sexy! I really want one too, but I <3 my swapped RS more Mine would have to be white or that darker metallic blue!

for s2000 people, hows the 2.2 vs the 2.0? reliability, performance, aftermarket, etc?

anything to watch out for when buying an s2k? seems like if you buy it off an adult who owned the car as a secondary car, and its low miles, it would surely be a good call.

ask dynamicprojektz, as he used to own a '03 WRX and went on to a S2k.

On paper, the 2.0 looks better to me as it has an extra 500 until redline, but expect to pay a crap load for any aftermarket parts for any of the S2ks.

I run with a bunch of S2000s on the weekend. They're fast stock .. and turn well.
The only reason one of them is able to pull away on the twisty roads is because he drives much closer to the edge of control and grip than I do ... and he can drift pretty much any time he wants to.
Good car overall ... fun to drive .. and they sound Great with an exhaust reving upto 9k.

But when the road turns to dirt/gravel/snow/or gets wet ....... there's nothing like AWD
And then there's the sound of the turbo spooling up.
And with just a few mods a WRX/STi will turn with them without getting the rear loose.

I test drove several for my fiance. Its definitely a fun car but has absolutely no ***** in stock form. The engine keeps revving and revving but all it does is make a lot of noise. Handling is certainly nice, but I'd prefer a Mazdaspeed MX-5 in that department .

The Mazdaspeed MX-5 is a whole lotta fun... little gokart with a turbo. Only problem is that I don't really fit in the damn thing . The S2k is a significantly nicer car overall as well while the miata is more hardcore.
