Until CA repeals the speed trap law, it is illegal to ticket you using any stationary speed gathering method. Red lights are different, since they don't ticket you for "speeding".
Someday, you can bet folks will let the law be changed and then they will be able to use the system to catch everyone.

This morning south bound 280 just past the Woodside off/on ramp were two motocycle CHP officers. One was giving a ticket and the other was using a radar gun. First hitting the front then the rear of the pack I was in. Luckily I was driving the old mini van and not the G35.
