Rack and Pinion Kinda leaking..replace?

I have a 05 Sti and my rack and pinion is kinda leaking. Well put it this way the boots are fine, no fluid is missing from the P/S resovoir and I dont hear any noises when driving.

More of like a drip a day, but me being the most paranoid owner, Im debating on changing it. I'll take some pics today and post them, but it sounds like nothing major.

If I change it I found some Remanufact ones from Cardone and Rack Doctor any thoughts on those. Or Im just replacing it for nothing at this point..

I'd change it out. Pretty much all you are going to find are remans, even from the dealer. Just had the one on my GF done not too long ago and only cost a few hundred.

Can you tell where it is leaking from exactly? I'd check the lines to the pump, since they are known to leak over time and will start as a slow leak. That's how mine was, and it didn't make any noise, it just failed one day while I was on the freeway. So there's a chance it isn't the rack at all.

sorry, I am not familiar with them. I'd ask one of the local shops.

so i checked yesterday for any leaky hoses, nothing...I checked right below the pinion if there is a drop spot and nothing. I do see some built on fluid on the bottom of the pinion itself...and it came on the the boot...

I do want to say that the car did sit in the side of my house for abot 1 days without me driving it. I used my 2nd car alot because it was raining..

Could be your valve cover gaskets leaking in a corner down onto the steering rack.

Yes, sounds like it is coming from somewhere else.
