Quick question about Macs
I am a complete newbie when it comes to Macs, but how do I open up a file in the cd drive? It doesn't show a cd icon or anything on the desktop and when i tried locating the cd drive, I couldn't find it
I'm on a mac os x right now
Oh btw, the files in the cd are wma files, but this mac has windows media player installed, so I figured it should work.....

umm dont think windows media 9 came out for the mac yet (could be wrong).
If you dont see it on your desktop when you pop the cd in something terrible is wrong. Could be that your cdrom oscillator is off calibiartion with your data infuser.

Try a different CD first and see if OS X reads that. You can't really look for the CD drive. CDs just show up on the desktop (Unless that Mac has it so CDs don't show on the desktop in preferences). If that's the case then double click the drive icon in the upper right and Finder should show various volumes (HD, Ext. Drives if attached, CDs).
Windows Media Player 9 for OS X is out.

My Mac is solid, very rarely do I have to force quit an application, which I can do without affecting other apps or restarting. I can't remember the last time it froze... in fact, since upgrading to 10.3.2 I've had zero problems.
Are you in S.F.? I could come check it out.
You don't need to look for the CD drive, it should be right on your desktop...

no no it's ok. I'm using the workplace's mac computer
Boss is gone for awhile and i wanted to listen to a bit of music, that's all
It's possible if the Mac is 'administered' that they've locked out CDs from mounting.
Any CD (if good) will simply display as a CD Icon on the desktop once inserted. Unless they've set the Finder to hide mounted disks. In which case click on the Finder (the first icon in the doc, happy mac face). It should then be in the list of drives.
