Quick question.

Hello again community, back with more noob questions.

So I recently bought a HKS downpipe and it is not long enough to connect to my greddy sp2 catback exhaust. I asked a friend and he said that I need a midpipe/test pipe or something like that, is that what I should be looking for? From the looks of it, I am missing the rear cat converter section since the hks has a place for me to put the o2 sensor.

On a side note, the greddy fits onto my OEM downpipe with no problems at all.

That is a JDM length down pipe that usualy fits with JDM length exhaust. At least what it seems to me.

And I hope you plan on running a tune after you add a down pipe.

Sounds like it also could be a two piece down pipe that's missing half of it, if its that much distance!

you could go to a muffler shop and have a pipe made to go between or just sell it and buy one that fits.

From left to right. wrx catless (full downpipe replacement), wrx catless top section only, usdm wrx, jdm wrx.

If thats your situation, then you got a JDM length downpipe. Also I believe jdm downpipe only has 1 bung for o2 sensor.

If you really really want to use that downpipe, here is a suggestion:

Thats for JDM downpipe to USDM midpipe (catback).

Or just have an exhaust shop fabricate one to your fitting.

Lol you are 2 for 2, I do indeed have the jdm downpipe, and yes it only has one bung for o2 sensor. I'll look into that other section, I rather buy it than have someone fabricate it. Since there is only place for one o2 sensor, wouldn't that mean I won't pass smog?

A good exhaust shop could probably fab up the missing piece and add an o2 bung but the cost would probably be comparable to you just buying the proper DP.

Do you have the stock DP? If so I would go catless, and get a tune. You will be very happy. Will it be Smog Legal? No but you can just swap back to your stocker every two years. Just make sure you are planning on getting a tune for the DP.

I do have the stock downpipe, it's what I'm running on right now, I was hoping to run this hks downpipe but I guess not. I didn't wanna go catless cause I'm scared of getting popped for the black smoke that's gonna come from catless. or maybe I'm just noob and the black smoke comes from other mods.
