I just went to Kirkwood on Sun morning and came back on Sun night via highway 88. Not sure how 50 is but 88 is pretty mild with not much snow on the road except when you get near Kirkwood, even so it's not thick. Just drive slow around the corners and keep your speed at a cautious pace.

Roads are totally clear
I just drove back from South Lake today. 50 is totally clear. You could have slicks on your car right now and you'd be fine...lol. BTW, good snow at Sierra at Tahoe.
