As I remember it, AWD was banned in 01/02 due to the dominance of the AWD Skylines.

I don't know about FWD, but why would you race a FWD. Even Honda races RWD in JGTC

I think what he meant was he didn't know if it was converted to rwd for JGTC.

No AWD. Good question about Celicas. I am pretty sure they are FR, but I will try to find out. I wanna know now too. BTW, it is not called JGTC anymore. It is called SUPER GT now.

IIRC the celica was a RWD car and had a 6 or 8 cyl engine

JGTC Celica = FR using the JDM Gen 3 MR2 Turbo engine. Same with the Supras, they use the JDM Gen 3 MR2 Turbo engines. The 6 cyl has something to do with being too heavy and not high enough revving.

Correct. ***'s Celica has 3S-GTE engine. The other Celica as the actual new Celica motor. No 6-cyls there.

same reason why the old JGTC GT500 Supras used the same motor. they could sit it further back for better weight distribution, and it was lighter......

No, some GT300 Supra's had that motor, I think. Since they were limited on power, they opted for better weight...
