Question: Ticket out of state
Question: Ticket out of state
I was in NY last month and got ticketed for 75 in 65 (I was going faster than that but the DA volunteered a reduction).
I think I'll take it, but my question is whether it's possible to attend traffic school in California to have it taken off my driving record (otherwise clean). I know I'm not going to be back in NY for a while.
I called the NY court, they told me to ask the CA DMV, called them, they told me to call the court. I thought I was on the phone with computer tech support again.
Anybody deal with this before, or know where I should look for more info?
Thanks!
Kenn

uhh, 2 things.
1. First find out if NY will actually report the ticket on your CA record. I got a ticket in TX a few years ago and it wasn't reported to my CA record.
2. Instead of trying to take in person traffic school, see if you can do it online. A lot of counties have a list of approved online traffic schools you can use, and most of the online schools will send in your completion cert to the courts for you, and you get a copy too. This is generally faster and cheaper than going in person.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I've already checked and NY shares its traffic violation database with ALL 50 STATES.
If they will let me go to traffic school online, that pretty much nulls any concern about having to be there in person
Thanks!
