You aren't getting my point, by having laws that scare people from loaded arms is a double against the law abiding citizen from protecting themselves + criminals who carry them anyways.

who'd you ask?

sometimes, police are not up latest news or updated law changes.

i personally ran into this when a family member invited to go shooting with him at his department's range.

he started grilling me on the legality of my "ASSault rifle"... unbeknownst to him, i have be following the rules and regulation of OLL rifles for a couple or so years now.

heck, in the last year, the OPEN UNLOADED CARRY movement in kalif has caught a bunch of LE agencies in a tricky situation.

next thing you know, agencies are floating memos throughout their officers reminding them that law abiding citizens can actually have a handgun in a holster that is in plain view (not concealed), but UNLOADED and still be not breaking any laws (although... once again, not within 1000 feet of any school).

visit www.calguns.net for actual copies of the memos... here's a sample:

CGN is the best source for anything fireams related for any law abiding californian...

Figured that with CA's goofy laws, in a bay area forum I would get answers from bay area LEO's
The Gunatic guys are great, but they spread out across the country and aren't always familiar with the laws here.

I actually did speak privately with one LEO on G/A, but I think they would prefer not to be Id'd

ldivinag - I hear what you are saying officers must quote law conservately. The touching = loaded thing did come from a bay area LEO who is very in support of CCW

I just wanted to be sure. While I'm not a LEO, I'm pretty well versed in CA's PC and VC. If you have any other questions, I'm always around to answer them the best I can (with the "I'm not a lawyer/LEO" disclaimer)

im in full support of ccw, im just saying that someone who knows how to write a good report, could turn that shotgun into a "loaded gun"

Just saying =)

In the end... better be safe than sorry.

So from what you're saying, I take it that it's fairly common for police officers to manufacture cases and distort the facts in their favor?

Both of you are completely wrong.

If the officer can articulate that the shotgun can be loaded, well you got yourself a case.

What is boils down to..... WHY CARRY THE SHOTGUN WITH AMMO ON THE SADDLE IN YOUR TRUNK.

Just put the ammo up front... really is it that hard??

And ilogin, you are completely wrong about everything you have ever said about law enforcement. I Extend my offer to you as well. Take a ridealong so you know what it is really like. You swear like the cops are out to get YOU all the time.
