Question about Maddad exhausts

I purchased a Maddad whisper which is in the mail atm. Its a 3inch catback single tip for the 05.

Their website is pretty vague so I need to find out from someone who has this system on their car if the catback will just mate up to the downpipe or is some sort of intermediate pipe required?

Also to anyone running the system with a catless downpipe. Does your exhaust sound a little more hollow and raspier because of it being catless? On some of the YouTube videos it definitely sounded better with a catted downpipe.

Im trying to purchase the other neccesary components so any help would be greatly appreciated so I dont end up regretting my purchase.

The MadDad catback uses a flat flange, whereas the stock downpipe uses a donut style. I believe they sell a converter. If you have an aftermarket downpipe with a flat flange (e.g. the MadDad downpipes), you're good to go.

No comments on the sound, I've never heard one catless. Either way, I think you'll enjoy it.

It got to the shop this morning and I installed it to check it out with my cutout downpipe. The sound is definitely a lot more mellow than it was on my buddys sti.

Maybe with the right downpipe and the rest of mods in place the sound will get better.

As far as install I just used the donut that was on my downpipe and it fit perfectly.

I have the maddad single tip on a built ej257 and invidia bellmouth dp. It is the quietest I have heard while sounding great at open throttle. Not sure what you mean by Trying to get it to sound better. What defines better for you?

Hearing the rumble a bit more. It sounded more defined on my friends sti. Might just be because mine is on a 2.0.
