Question about AEM COLD AIR INTAKE

I heard that the cold air intake doesnt do anything for the WRX.. i got a good bargain on it, and i still wanted to put it on anyway, but people suggested that i get a short ram instead because it will be more effective.. would it make n e difference if i install the CAI anyway?

What are the reasons why i shouldn't install the CAI though, will it defect the car?

It sure will.

If you get pulled over, and the cop asks you to lift your hood, they will see the CAI right away and you will get a ticket.

I think the AEM CAI has CARB stickers, so the cop shouldn't be able to give you a ticket for it.

However, the MAF sensors on WRX's don't handle intake modifications very well, so unless you are getting tuned for the addition of the intake, it is going to cause more trouble than it is worth.

1) cops dont care about the CARB stickers, they tell you to take it up with the ref
2) as for the "will it sound different?" the sound shouldnt matter that much, dont most people mod for power? or am I just weird?
3) the CAI will make your car run lean
4) if you want more info, use the SEARCH button

CAI intakes have such a long run from the filter to the airflow meter that the air gets very turbulent and when the turbulent air passes over the airflow meter it causes inaccurate readings which causes the engine to run poorly (sometimes leans other times rich) and can not be controlled properly even with tuning.
CAI intakes only works well on fuel injection which does not use a airflow meter
