Both. I have a Macbook and a hand-built Windows PC for gaming. Also an iPad and an Android phone.
For the most part, a computer is there to do work, so I say "Do work" and quit babbling about OS choices. For most home users, any modern operating system will have applications to get what you need done.
Once you start talking enterprise level, then I will agree that certain choices are better for certain tasks, but most people don't do enterprise level work inside their home.
