TL;DR: theres a difference between a true STi and an STi TS (tuned by STi)
so yeah, the "purity of handling" thing seems to be the tip off that its mostly a brakes/suspension package. Which is fine but if they're right about the $41.5k price then wow, I talked my way into my C6 vette for that much WITH the Z51 brakes/suspension pack.
The whole point of the BRZ is that we know its not that fast but you excuse it because its cheap and fun. a $40k BRZ is just pointless.

Yeah these cars are fun, but for ~$40k I would never buy one. They are still cheap interior econo sports cars. Unless you buy it to keep it 100% stock and barely put miles on it.. But if you plan on changing anything, even just suspension, save yourself 20k and buy a FR-S and put that 20k into it and then put new BRZ STI owners to shame.

And no mater what Japan releases the BRZ STI with you just know the US will still get some watered down version. To some degree or another :/
The car would have to be 300+hp for 40k. Remember when the 08 sti's went up dramatically, then they all sold in 1 week due to 7,000 off msrp because people had refused to pay 40k. Over 40k is a joke imo.

Assuming there is a change and no turbo, I'm guessing more aggressive cams and different intake and exhaust. Power wise.....20-40hp more.
If in doubt, FLAT OUT

Those STI parts have been available for a while already. Mann Engineering has had it on theirs since early this year.

The BRZ tS will come in two grades, the BRZ tS “GT-package” and the standard BRZ tS package. What’s the difference you might be asking? Not a great deal, if you’re looking for a power upgrade unfortunately. The tS “GT pack” will come with a number of exterior mods including a dry carbon GT wing that was pulled from the Impreza RA STi parts shelf along with black multi spoke alloy wheels, Recaro front seats, shift ****, steering wheel button, kidney grill inserts, upgraded fog lamps and surrounding garnish, front under spoiler and side steps, strengthened driveshaft, Bilstein suspension upgrade and almost pointlessly, 6 pot Brembo brakes. 200hp will not take a lot of stopping.

One more important comment from that article if it is indeed true:
As with so many special models from Subaru, neither of these cars is designated for international release.
