Purchasing Digital Camera

Hey, I am going to be working at a hospital in Mongolia in July and am looking to purchase a digital camera for the trip. My budget is around 300$. Any suggestions, or tips are appreciated. Thanks.

I am looking for a point and shoot, probably should have mentioned that in the first post. A quick search i did led me to this camera http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-came...-33939643.html

if you dont care of its size, get most optical zoom as possible. 10x and up.

Nikon has a new slim ultra zoom and canon has a few now. canon sx line

Any Canon PowerShot series will do.

"Why" you ask? The controls and menu format. Most compact camera's have similar specs, however the way you operate them varies greatly. The Powershot series has a tried and true user-friendly menu format and controls. You can't go wrong with one.

The Panasonic Lumix lineup is pretty impressive. I'd recommend those in the same neighborhood as a Canons Powershot.

Those control rings and the wide angle are dope. A little pricey though.

... people still say "dope" right?

Ya know, I never saw Rainman - was it any good? Dustin Hoffman seems to play a rahtard quite often: stupid lawyer in Sleepers, Focker's dad in Meet the Parents, homeless pimp in Midnight Cowboy, crossdresser in Tootsie. What gives?

Sweet, I can get an S90 for under $300 like the OP was asking about? Is that how much they're going for now?
