Pulled over last night, cop sees boost gauge, asks to pop hood..........

Pulled over for doing a claimed 50 in 30. Cop sees the boost gauge and asks what it is. I tell her it is a boost gauge for the factory turbo and go on to say how the dealer wanted $400 for the factory gauge and I was able to install one for $50.

She asks me to pop the hood and all I can say is thank god for a stealth setup. I went with black Samcos and still have the stock airbox and I/C, so under hood looks completely stock. I am Cobb Stage 2.5 and completely catless right now, but have been sitting on a 2.5" Magnaflow cat for months. I think I'll be heading to the muffler shop this week

There's something to be said for keeping things stock looking. I ended up with a warning since my record is clean.

You didn't have to pop your hood you know... She had no probable cause.

And at that point, the cop can impound the car. You're right, she really didn't have probable cause to search the vehicle, but she DOES have probable cause (very light standard) to impound the car because it might be dangerous.

Would you rather pop the hood and hope for a fixit ticket, or have to walk home .

You sneaked by! Now stop tempting fate and go get that magnaflow welded in!

Close call Jimbo, good to hear a good outcome every now and then. We gotta get a BBQ at JG's sometime, if we can ever get ahold of him.....

This happened in San Jose near Meridian and Hamilton. I knew I didn't have to pop the hood, but I also knew she wouldn't find anything. Most people used to looking at inline 4s and v8s look at Subaru engines and get a deer in the headlights look. I know I did the first time I saw one.

I have the stock heatshield over the VF34, so it is very hard to see the DP if you don't know what to look for and she didn't

I actually am not a big fan of going catless - it's just not worth the extra few HP to me. I've just been really lazy, so now I have some external motivation.

As far as her being hot, have any of you ever seen a hot chick cop that wasn't in a cheesy movie? I sure haven't.
