Not so fast, I'm in the same boat - ref'd for aps cai not having a carb sticker... But I also have the red aps inlet. I'm going to leave it in and hope for the best. I'm also thinking of bringing in a used/broken inlet to show them it was an oem replacement... I'm also doing that with the stock uppipe since I have a heatwrapped aps uppipe (the oem heatshield broke and it's catless anyways)

Good luck.

Remember this guy is dealing with disgruntled people every tuesday and thursday, every week.

Las Positas is cool in my book.
i never disrespected his authority. he was a cool guy and i had no problems with him. the only thing i didn't like about him was the fact that he would fail people on things that wouldn't affect emissions. the same day he failed me, he failed another wrx because it had a 6-speed.

from my previous ref. he just checked what was on the ticket. I was wrote up for modified smog i put on my stock intake back on he checked for cats and etc. I left exhaust on with all the cats. Another Idea is put the shields from the stock cats on try pass that(if you are sure you can pass the sniffer). Only they they bugged me on was that one of the hoses(for the intake) was not the right silicone hose LOL. -.-

The wires are ok to keep. Make sure you unplug the vacuum line in engine and remove the actual gauge.

I have issues with these state ref people. While I understand they are just doing their job; in my eyes their job is immoral. The whole CARB system is a joke and makes me ashamed to live in California. The overboard regulation is why we can't by nice new VW diesel cars that rival the Prius in gas millage.

fully, sorry it sounded that way; and yeah it took some convincing when he asked what trans I had and I replied "91 legacy turbo five speed". He wanted me to source an 07 wrx trans to complement my swap and I asked him why, and he then said it was o.k.

??? funny business

My thing is on Friday so yeah, only the APS inlet stays and I hope I pass with that.

My cousin called the state ref. guy and he said he can't be lenient, but he said good luck. He has to be strict. But oh well, I tried in a way.

You should be fine with the inlet. Makes me scared for my mild modifications i have a few things I.E. turbo inlet, up pipe, catted DP, and I would hate to get reffed. Lets not even get into the cams. However my future mods would take me like a day to remove and it would be really really cappy to get reffed.

I didn't re-install my air box snorkus. Would they notice it?

Oh man, I forgot I have my COBB light weight pulley on too. It's blue. Would the state ref. say anything about it? I doesn't effect smog.

i think that really depends on where you go to get reffed. some stations are more lenient than others.

I passed the inspection and smog. The guy was cool. The first thing he said when he opened my hood was, "nice inlet," other than that it was small talk and he did his job, and I passed. So, I guess you can pass with the APS inlet.

I remember reading somewhere that state refs are required to remove plastic covers or anything that could cover up engine mods. They even sourced that the forester shield would be removed in an inspection.
