PSA Check your spare tire pressure

Just a PSA reminder to check the tire pressure of your spare tire.

just think when the last time you even saw it? Hopefully you won't ever need it, but like that last two times I did, the spare was flat......

So save yourself some headache and check it maybe every oilchange or tire rotation. It'll be worth it someday down the road.

next time I come across my spare tire, wherever it is in the garage I chucked it, I'll be sure to check it

Lets think about that, "free roadside assistance" means you first off need to be in cell range, if you can manage to get the call in, you get to wait for a truck typically somewhere from 30-60 minutes in my experience, and maybe even get to ride the truck (hope they dispatched a flatbed or you will wait for the second truck) to someplace that may or may not be able to fix your tire up and get you back on the road maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow....

With a donut spare you break out the jack, change the wheel and are -gingerly I admit- but back on your way in what maybe 15 minutes?

pack a full sized spare and you are back underway without needing to hold back.

I'll keep a spare or two handy unless I'm on an auto-X or track day, and even then I'd have a spare at the paddock- thanks.

Thanks for posting this! When I explain this to people they look at me like I'm crazy. "Why not wait for someone else to do it?" they tell me. Some people are just lazy I guess.

You mean if I get a flat and there's no spare in the back I might have to wait for a tow truck? No way!

I've got AAA for 3 free assistances a year. But why waste it on stupid crap that can be avoided, when something so simple can be done yourself when properly prepared.

Why would we need to save weight on our daily drives if none of us are street racing?

You can't really speak for eveyone on that topic. Im sure there are plenty who still do it and think that saving 25lbs really means anything

maybe they need the extra speed to get on the freeway and pull in front of the prius in the fast lane.
