the 360 and the PS3 are way more high tech than our computers, and thats the fact. but after all it is a game console. to me PS3 just an investment, so its business right there.

from the tech spec the xbox360 is better than PS3

Microsoft is releasing a HD-DVD player that plugs into the 360 - $199 I think is what it says on the website. Blu-Ray is more hype than anything. I'll just quote Kanye... I don't like it unless its brand new.

I'm surprised all these people want to camp out just to sell it on ebay. I'm gonna go try to find one on launch date, but theres no way I'm going to sit out in front of a store overnight to get one.

no one will really know the true cost of the PS3 until the BOM is released which the company I am working for will have out shortly. Wouldn't be a big supprise if the BOM is over $600, but that's the trick they all use, they will get back that loss with the games that they sell for $70 each. Printers do that all the time, you get them for free with your comp and then those refills go for $20 or more. They get you in the end

It has better accessories than the rest.
I guess you must have gotten it already cuz it's been removed. lol.

My friend and I are definitely attempting to get one and turn around and sell it. We have a sort of insider "info" because we are security at a certain retailer. We'll make sure no one is loitering prior till I get in line. We have the police department to back us up. Here's a ? for you guys. I'm not trying to get rich of this thing, my friend and I just want to make a few dollars. Do you think 2 games and the premium system would go for $1300 off a craigslist by one of the sony lemmings?

So betamax tape players went for that in the 80's. Was that a good buy? Nope, not even at $200 under. The blu-ray is as of yet unproven and in direct competition with DVD-HD. And I really don't want to hear that bluray>dvd-hd because it is a moot point. Betamax was better than VHS and guess which one won. It's isn't a deal to buy unproven formats regardless of of the dicount from the 'normal' price only to find out that the world chose to go with another format. Sony loves people like you. I bet you have a betamax and an MD player at home and just can't figure out why they didn't take off since sony said they were the best thing since sliced bread.

That's great if you prefer PS3 titles and as such would prefer to buy a PS3. But don't tell me that the PS3 is a deal at $600 just because it sports a non-universal blue-ray drive. Once you remove the ability to watch blu-ray movies, which I personally don't care about. you're left with an over priced system that reads discs more slowly than a DVD based system yet doesn't utililize the capacity gains that cause it to read more slowly in the first place.

That's an unfair comparo as it assumes one was either dumb enough or impatient enough to purchase a core system and build their way up. Most people bought the premium system wich is $399 and comes with xbox live, a wireless controller and HDD. More importantly the HD-DVD drive is optional so one can hold off on a major investment in both player and library until it becomes more clear what the future formats will entail (Blu-ray, HD-DVD, or a hybrid reader).

I love how people are already so willing to abondon the DVD format, and more importantly, invest in the 'next generation' format when there are still two competing formats. There are codecs available to squeze perfectly acceptable HD images into a size manageable for a dual-Layer DVD but the two camps Sony/blu-ray and Toshiba/DVD-HD would rather you have to buy all new players. I'll personally keep the faster reading DVD drive in my 360 and the intersting gameplay afforded by the Wii controller over a PS3 with debatable disc format advantages.

Hey man, if blu-ray wins I'll eat crow and buy a PS3 as it is the best buy for blu-ray technology at the moment. Though, if blu-ray does win out the price of players will drop dramatically and I might be better off buying a standalone player since I already own a 360. Regardless, I'm just not a big fan of investing large amounts of my hard earned money on an undecided format just yet. I think I was one of the few that was happy the 360 didn't come with an internal HD-DVD player at increased cost as it allows me to play next gen games at a lower price and wait for the format wars to end.
