Protecting the Car on the Drive to Socal

Anyone have any good tips for minimizing rock / road damage to the car? I'm going down to LA this weekend and may take the Subie.

I see a lot of people using (blue) painter's tape - what brand do you guys recommend (or are they all the same)? Anyone have a bad experience with tape leaving sticky residue after it's removed?

Any other solutions are appreciated!

As much as I'm not a fan of them, a Bra or clear bra are pretty much the best things that are really going to protect the paint from chips on a road trip. Clear bra only stops things to a certain point as well.

Any issues when you remove the tape (particularly during hot weather)? I think this is the most likely route I'll take.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

You have a good point

Still, paint scratches and chips make me sad regardless of whatever object occur on (particularly new things).

I guess the consensus here is that I'm being overly cautious and caring.

Point noted
