Progress....
I know most of you won't give a crap but I'm finally making progress on my caddy...
The trunk is now decked. Doors are in progress of being shaved.
Only progress photo I have. After this weekend I should have more..

Either way it's progress. Hopefully in the next 6-8 weeks I'll have the engine repainted and put back together and installed. Engine bay painted black. The doors shaved. The hood nosed. The floor in primer and sound deadened hopefully new carpet. The roof in primer and sound deadened. And the engine running.

The O.G. 331 v8. I originally pulled it to rebuild it but it was running fine when I took it out... call it a tweaker moment I guess..haa.
So I'm torn between rebuilding the heads while it's out or just putting it back. I am glad it's out though as I have a couple bad freeze plugs so I'm replacing all 9 of those soon.
Basically.. replacing the freeze plugs. New gaskets. New finned valley pan cover. New finned valve covers. Repainting everything. Then it's going back in.
It's a good motor for being 55 years old. 220hp. If I redo the heads I'll drop a new cam in and upped the cc output of the heads and push that up to about 265 or so.
But I figure I'll do that crap after it's put back together. I can't move forward with the stuff I really want to do until it's back on the road.
Going to do a big notch in the back. Airbags so it'll lay frame. Painting it with a tinted primer or in that black that the trunk is in for the time being. Roof and engine are going black cherry pearl.
Got a LONG way to go but at least it's starting to make some progress.
Hopefully it'll be on the road in less than 8 weeks. The paint is gonna take me a couple months after that. Then over the winter I'll get to work on the bags. Front will only take a weekend or two but the rear is gonna take a couple months. have to cut the trunk out. Lift the wheel wells. Cut the frame. Build the 4 link. Build a whole new trunk. Etc. Gonna cost me about $3500 probably in parts and materials and beer and food. But better than the $10g's most shops would want.
So I'll bring it out but don't expect it out til end of summer.
I'll post up some pictures on monday of what I get done this weekend.

Nice car cover. When is the virgin mary getting painted on the hood?
All kidding aside, this thread needs more shots of the caddy. This should be a really good project

The interior will get redone in cream and black tuck n' roll but that's last on my list.
I did consider doing lace on the roof though... but I want to go more mild custom than low rider and with the visor anything that leans even slightly low rider will be WAY lowrider.
So I'm going with fat white walls. Pin Striping and what not.
Here is the car when I first got it..
This is just after I pulled the visor an started working on the roof.

my boy phils 54' on my wedding day. He's the one doing the metal work and teaching me as we go.

That's all I have on my computer. There's a couple on my myspace and I'll take more this weekend.
I'll be doing some sanding and wire wheel work so you'll trip out at what you see... the sucker is EMPTY.

I run lead additive and I run some heavy *** oil.
I'll probably do the heads. I mean it'll cost me less than $200 and it's easier now than later.

No joke...
You think your suby steals your money. Try having a Suby, a project car AND a wife. Seriously though... my wife supports the **** out of me and definitely helps with the dough that is getting spent on the caddy. No support not finish. My advice would be... if you want a project car, buy one that's mostly done and just needs some smaller stuff. If you try a complete overhaul on your first go it'll take forever and there's a good chance you'll give up before its done. I have a year into the caddy so far and I'm BARELY getting started.
but if you want one of my messes I'll sell you my 58 apache basket case for $400. It's complete but better sooted as a parts car.
