Product idea needs help from electronic guru (biz partner)
Okay. This may not be the best way to do it. But I don't know anybody around me who can help so, what the hell, I'm just giving it a shot.
I have an idea for a product. It is first of its kind (though not the 1st in its SIMILAR kinds) and it is related to cars.
It is an electronic product and I am only a software engineer.
I am looking for someone with circuit board design experiences, as well as experience in using/designing with LCDs. PM me if you are interested.
PS:
Please, I need someone who CAN START DOING IT IMMEDIATELY and NOT someone who needs to learn and then try...the subject is certainly attractive (who doesn't want to be entrepreneur?) but if you're not expertised enough you simply waste time includes yours.

Um, on this boards I know me and Vaus can work w/ LCDs and have PCB design experience, however we are full time students
If you PM me or Vaus about your idea, I'm sure either of us would be happy to give you feedback. As I stated we're both students and neither of us could give a rat's **** about bringing a product to market. As for circuit board design, I don't know how difficult your circuit is going to be, or how large it will be? Eagle and PCBexpress have free/trial software that isn't as powerful as Orcad (can't do as many mask layers and a lot of other bs most people don't care about) but is easy to learn, as long as you have some understanding of circuits.
If you're talking about the actual Orcad Layout software, you don't even need a book. You put in a circuit in Orcad Capture, create a netlist, import it into Layout, set the footprints, then drag the components where you want them to physically be. I have no idea why people get paid 60,000 a year to do this crap...
Besides, Orcad PSPICE also has a free student version which limits your simulation design to 25 transistors (dunno if you have transistors on your board)
As for LCD's, if you are already a software engineer it should take you maybe a few hours to understand how to use them (you send an 8 bit bus to the LCD to display characters, and there are a bunch of other pins as control lines). If you PM me I have an excellent article in CQ (amateur Radio Mag) about working w/ LCD's that I can send you.

Verc, thanks for mentioning me.
I guess I AM a full time student, although I don't like to think of it that way... makes me depressed. I have some experience with PCB design, namely using Protel, and I HAVE brought an electronics product to market... check out my Open Loop Manager. I'm very biz oriented and would deffinately be interested in working with you if I like the project. If the pcb design is on the simpler side, I should be able to take care of it. If not, I have a very smart friend who could help. E-mail me at ed@mbmsoft.com and let me know the details so we can go from there.
Thanks

Just a comment, since I know you're a smart guy.
The above ain't a wise attitude if you're really going to make some big f'in money using your skills.I know that vaus IS interested in bringing products to market as his post evidenced...and that's how you become a big wig in engineering. The fact that vaus has brought a product to market, even if it doesn't sell 100 units, looks better on his resume than any internship or work. It shows some extra sort of drive.
either way, I wish I was an engineer, I'd be all over this. If you need a wanna be MBA guy, let me know.

Hey... I'm a wannabe MBA guy too!
Deffinately considering atleast part time bussiness school in the future, but I'll probably be starting up a bussiness far before the school... oh well. Bussiness school is really mainly good for contacts anyway.
