Problems with Albany Subaru...
My cousin brought his car into Albany Subaru because he had several electrical problems with his car, which is still under warranty. The car had a short circuit somewhere, causin it to keep blowing fuses. Anyways, the dealer said they traced the problem to his HID's, which he's had on for 1.5 years already. The problem started recently. The denied warranty coverage for the problem, and stuck him with a $400 bill for the repairs. Personally we think the dealership is full of ****. The HID's couldn't have caused all these problems all of a sudden. How do we go about disputing this rediculous charge by the dealership? Thanks.

The HIDs might be drawing more electric current than the factory lamps, and that might have worn out the wires prematurely, causing short circuits. Which fuse kept getting blown?

Well the problem is, they first said the factory alarm is what is causing the problems, then noticed he had HID's then blamed that as the source of the short circuits. At first they said the dealership that installed the factory alarm wired the horn up wrong, and they tested it by arming the alarm, and as soon as the horn honked, it would blow out a fuse. So how the hell can they all of a sudden say it was the HID's that caused the problem??

Yeah the HID's are aftermarket. Philips Ultinon 6000K's. But the thing is, why the hell is the dealer telling us its the alarm thats triggering the problems, then changing their story and blaming the problem on the HID kit. The tech demonstrated that the fuse would blow everytime the horn was honked. He turned on the headlights and guess what...nothing happened. No blown fuse. Albany Subaru is trying to dick us around, plain and simple.
because the lights had something to do with the electrical system, that might be enough for them to deny your claims.
if the system is completely plug and play, have them show you WHY THEY ARE DENYING you.
otherwise, if it looks llike a hack job, then you might be out of luck...

did they do some work without them telling you waht they were doing?
i mean, if you are going in for warranty work, even if they deny you and dont fix the problem, why do you have to pay 400?

They just called him up and told him they fixed the problem, but it wasn't covered by warranty and dropped the $400 bill on him when he came in to pick up the car. They did not call first to make sure he wanted to authorize the repairs. Obviously if he had known they were gonna charge $400 to fix it, we would have taken the car elsewhere.
