what happens at high rpm or motor speeds that require more air then that thing can flow at full tilt? what then? your actually going to cause the motor to lean out a bit.. haha wouldnt it be funny of there e turbo blew a motor.. haha

I'd be more worried about parts flying off into the engine...
Remember when you were a kid riding your bike WAY too fast down a hill and you got speed wobbles? This reminds me of that. I'm just scared that it would get spinning too fast and spontaneously explode sending plastic, sheet metal, and wires flying into the engine.
bbbbbbbbbbbwwwwwwwwahahhahaha...
Oh, jeez, I just wet myself a little.

I'm gonna hook one of these bad boys up.
Salad spinner, baby! You know! All I need is a passenger to keep pumping it for me. But only when I am not at idle, or it might stall out the engine.

howdy,
I'm a poster on the corolla board and well...I'd like to thank you for the flaming.
I'd say the guy is a ricer, he has a bunch of "add on/cheap hp" stuff on the car (that doesn't work). IE fuel magnets, E-turbo...etc. He swears by them, and says that each gives approx 5-10 horses. I did some research and found out that THIS GUY IS SELLING THE STUFF!!! So of course he's gonna say that it works.
He also swears by using premium gas, when the corolla only requires regular. I tried to have a discussion to convince him that it wasn't working, but ... jeeze.
As for me, I'm a mechanincal engineering student who is a member of the society of automotive engineers. I have a plethora of knowledge about high performance cars. I joined the corolla board to try to educate the members, but...oh well. I drive a corolla because my dad works for toyota(discount), and it gets 40mpg (great for college student). I have much respect for the WRX, as it's very well engineered and driven by a few SAE members. Thanks and I welcome more flaming.

Actually, in the newer cars, if no knock events are tabulated, the ecu will advance the timing. So, theoretically, if you run Premium pump gas, you car will perform better.
I know that with Subaru's, this is true, but I am not sure of the technology in the Toyota ECU's. Suby's run Denso OBDII in the WRX.

not sure what ECu the Corolla uses...but the engine has variable valve timing, so it's possible. But...there have been complaints of a sulfur smell can be due to unburnt fuel exiting the combustion chamber, which is due to a higher than necessary octane. Also, I have a few papers on the engine which outlines what Toyota has done to allow regular gas at a 10.0:1 compression ratio. Finally...the corolla is an economy car, you shouldn't pay for premium gas on an economy car. Whatever gains obtained (if any) are minimal and outweighed by the weight of the bolt on body kits.
