price for oil filters and washer

damn, i used to live in the south bay and get my filters and crush washers from santa cruz but i recently moved to san mateo and need filters. i called around to see how much carlson and ron price and stevens creek (just for kicks) to see how much they charge for filters and washers.

carlson said $10 for the set

ron price said $9.75 for the filter and $2.08 for the washer (but they did offer a discount if you got 3 or more)

steven's creek said $9.99 for the filter and $1.50 for the washer.

santa cruz was $6 for the filter and $1.28 for the crush washer...DAYAM. I can't believe that the difference is that much for a freakin filter and crush washer.

Why don't you buy white label Purolator filters at Pep Boys for $3.99? Subaru does use Purolator filters as OEM. Then buy a fumotovalve, and you will never have to change the crush washer every again.

The dealership up here just throws them in if you buy an oil filter. I don't need the crush washers so I just buy Puralator filters at Pep Boys for $3.99
