Like I said, the entry fee pays for everything including rental fee, supplies, etc. Food is only part of that fee.

The more people that bring food, the more things will go to waste, and the more it will cost others. I'd rather everyone just show up empty handed and be fed by the event since everything is included.

We're going to have tri-tip, we're going to have beer, so why bring your own? doesn't make sense.
we gonna have Chicken for us non-red meat eaters??

Yes, we will.

Also, guys, we REALLLLLLLLY need people to start pre-paying! We have a ton of people that confirmed that they are going, yet no one has really pre-paid... I know thats how it is every year since most people prefer paying at the door, but I really need for you guys to pre-pay this year since the cost of the event is a lot more then previous years due to the location of the event.

We can't just rely on the vendors to pay for everything, it's not nearly enough... I really hate to say this, but if we don't get people to start pre-paying soon, we might not have an event... Either that, or it's no longer going to be a festival with all the events and such... Maybe I can provide drinks for people, but food will be far too expensive to provide without the funds we get from people pre-paying. I can't rely on everyone paying at the door, I did that one year and ended up paying for the food out of my own wallet (few hundred bucks) because we didn't buy enough food for everyone because those people didn't sign up and just showed up and expected me to know that they were coming via telepathy.

So in short, I need at least 30% of the people showing up to pre-pay for the event to make this thing happen.. Otherwise we're in trouble, and this could go from a festival into just a large meet with nothing else, no food, no nothing. I can't just take everyone's word and throw down $2,000+ for food and not have people show up... I know that people are going to show up in great numbers, but I need a certain percentage to pre-pay so I can use my knowledge of past events to gauge how much money I can spend and still be safe. I'm really good at predicting the number of people showing up, and I always try to overshoot our numbers by about 20 people or so, that way we have left overs that people can take home and we still have a little spill over for that small percentage that is unaccounted for.

So in short, I need about 30% of people attending the event to pre-pay or this festival isn't going to happen. I really encourage everyone to pre-pay so that we can get this thing going. If we don't have 30% within 32 days of the event, then I have to start refunding people their money and this will no longer be a festival, it will be a basic meet without all the things that makes this meet unique and as great as it is. I have high hopes for this year's event and I plan on making it better then all previous years... A LOT of planning has gone into this festival and I'd really like to see it come to life and I really want everyone to have a great time and remember this festival years later.

We can't make it happen without your help. $5 is sooo cheap for what you get... What can $5 really get you these days? Not a whole hell of a lot. For your $5 you get quality bbq meats, sides, deserts, as well as a large variety of drinks... Not to mention all the entertainment we're going to provide. I know it's not about the money, I know it's because you guys are too lazy to pre-pay! It will take you 2 mins to log into paypal via the link on the festival's website and pay the $5 per person. Please do it! I really want to make this event happen, but I'm not made of money so I can't cover everything and hope that everyone shows up and pays me back.

Lets do it guys!

Kinda sound like you are focusing an aweful lot on the food There are a lot of people that want to bring their own food. And you want to get a ton of extra food for the people who you think are going to come that didn't pre-pay but will at the door. Those numbers aren't really guaranteed, only spectulation. So it could be a lot of wasted food if people don't show.

If 100 people pre-paid $5, then buy food for those 100 people. Everbody is aware that there is food, so if they want food then they should buy a ticket before the event. If not, then they can come with their own food still. And there are probably people who pre-paid but aren't going to eat the food, so they can give their ticket to somebody else. I've heard from a bunch of people that they are bringing their own food, regardless if it's discouraged. Some people just want to have their own thing, and to say that it's not allowed will make them not interested in going.

A pot luck event has always worked in my experiences. Two weeks before the event, you post a sign up sheet so people can post what they are bringing, which everbody can see, then everybody can bring another of the same item, or something else. Keep it updated, and pretty much everything get's covered. That way there isn't a huge catered event with tons of extra food+money going to waste because not enough people came to the meet.

I thought the vendors were going to take care of the cost for the park? Are enough vendors signed up who are paying?

From what you say, if I pay my $5, it will go towards bbq meats, sides, deserts, and drinks. But I don't want any of that. So should I still pay the $5 and have that food go to waste? Or is the $5 going towards the park reservation fee, which is something I thought that the vendors would be taking care of?

I'd like to just go, probably relax in my little chair, talk to some people, enjoy the beatiful scenery. Can I do that? I don't want to be discouraged from going just because I want to bring my own food, or because there are just too many hassles going on with the planning.

No, wait.. Can you answer my question?

Why let this thread die, and start a new one? But this is not my question..

Let me restate my question from above..

Is the charity our money is being donated to Fury Friends Rescue? And will they be attending BAM?

Brucelee, there are a lot of people that simply prefer the food that we like and certain brands etc. For that reason they would like to bring their own food. I personally dont see the harm in that. But for it to be discouraged to bring their own food as it throws off the number for you, I think its BS. So what if people dont want to pay for the food you provide, Dont buy any food for them and dont give them a meal ticket. Simple as that...

As for the paying $5 for the rental fee for the park, that is totally fine but int he beginning is should be stated that the $5 goes just for the rental fee. If you want to charge a extra few bucks for the entertainment say that is part of their entrance fee. That would be fine but why not give them a itemized list of what money goes where.

As for other portions of the meet, my feelings are not to great on those either. I understand that there are some really nice raffle prizes being given out and such. But for there to be two different categories of prizes and cost for tickets, doesnt that kinda defeat the purpose of a raffle. I thought a raffle was to buy a ticket and you could get a sticker or you could get a new engine or what ever the case may be. I dont see why there is two categories. For you to say that the average person is going to buy the lower end ticket and only the enthusiast is going to buy the ticket for the nicer prizes is retarded in my opinion. What is a enthusiast just doesnt have the money to spend on the more expensive tickets. The economy is bad and there are a lot of people that are just making it buy and by the time they are all said and done and have spent well over 100 after you factor in gas, raffle tickets entrance fee, food etc. they just may not have the money to blow on a non necessity.

Also for certain generations to all have to part together, again I dont like this idea. People want to park next to their friends and they may not have the same generation car. I have given my opinions of the meet, you can take it for that and do with this information as you please. I like Rescuer got to a few meets each week and talk with a number of fellow members and there are a number of people who have not spoken up as they dont want to cause drama. They still have a opinion and Rescuer has tried to share this with you. The more and more I read about the meet and the way it is being run I am less inclined to attend it.
