This comes straight from BBS themselves on questions of refinishing. Done wrong, you anneal the metal and make it soft.

I was going to say... Ballz is your man to talk with.
I know I have done some in the past and had out of round problems. I shot my last set myself and been very pleased with it. Ballz might be able to shoot them for you. If you need you tires pulled off the rims before hand I can help you with that in fremont.

There are tons of debates on powdercoating wheels.
Generally speaking... the temp needed to powdercoat your wheels should be no where near the temps that would make a metal change and create a fragile wheel. There's a lot of powdercoated wheels out there... including BBS.
But I'd suggest having them painted. More color options anyways.
