I was thinking of doing the same to my 00-01 RS wheels, but then I changed my mind.

I'd rather be safe than sorry.

There are two places in SSF. One on South Airport Blvd. and the other on Mitchell Ave. . I forgot their names though.

damn, that's scary. i've heard that before where powercoating can weaken the alum alloy because of the heating process they use.

I was thinking of doing the same thing with some RPF-1's that I was going to buy; there's wheel techniques in Santa Clara that I found does a lot of powder coating, but apparently they really lag. My friend had his set of STi BBS painted and one repaired there and so far they've been good since then.

Looking for powder coating and/or you know of other spots in the bay to make it more convenient please add to the list...if you are going to ask if it's going to make the wheel brittle, NO! These places treat wheels differently, just add to the list Cool (can a brotha git a sticky)

West Coast Powder Coating ($75.00 AJ)
per wheel
(650) 871-0400
165 Mitchell Ave
South San Francisco, CA 94080

Quality Powder Coating ($50.00 Alfredo)
per wheel
(510) 568-5898
740 Julie Ann Way
Oakland, CA 94621

I heard powder coating wheels was a bad idea. The process makes the aluminum brittle and prone to cracking.

You heard right...in some cases. That is the "burn off process", tell the folks that you need them sandblasted (in stead of baked) or you can simply just clean em' up real good and coat right over it. West coast will charge you less if you go that route. Hit em' up "AJ" will put all the horror stories behind you, I'm getting some stuff done next week. Pics will be in show n shine next month

it depends on how good the shop is,if they are done correctly there is no saftey issue.

S&S powdercoating in santa cruz is a drive but they do alot of custom, hot rod type stuff, instead of bulk industrial work
