**** guess I should get on this, and yeah I was just thinking about the next mexico WRC, I dunno how its gonna be now without Subaru, but in all honesty, the best parts of the last Mexico WRC trip for us had nothing to do with the WRC, hell by the end it was almost incidental ("oh yeah? we're here for some sort of race too?") haha In all honesty, I had more fun at the Mexico WRC than the last Japan WRC I went to.
And I got laid at the last Japan WRC so this is really saying alot!
anywise...
DAY 1
Day doesnt start out right, Greg shows up at my place in SF to pick me up on the way to SFO after getting in a wreck in his beater-*** Cressida, we almost dont even get to the flight in time. the only thing that cheers me up is greg brought along his sisters tiny Hello Kitty duffel bag as his only luggage, apparently he couldn't find a better carry on haha!

We all hop on the smallest international fight Ive ever been on, 2-by-2 seating.

Make sure to always put the oxygen mask on any nearby Hobbits first.

we get to Leon Mexico, I had reserved a Mustang convertible for our trip. I figured how awesome would it be to bomb across the wilds of central Mexico, where tourists never tread, in a convertible Mustang? Unfortunately, I didnt read the fine print which said *or comparable convertible*
Which to Hertz, a "comparable" convertible was a PT Cruiser Convertible!!!
I take issue with that comparison, but we were stuck at the airport with a take-it-or-leave-it proposition, so we had to throw our **** in the PT, drop the top and wait to get killed on our first night in central MX as the two 'Joto's' in the PT...

Even the half hour trip from the airport to our hotel in central Leon on Mexicos fine system of hiways was an adventure, but we make it in one piece. I have reservations to the Holiday Inn, I dont know what to expect, but it turns out to be one of the nicest hotel Ive ever stayed at ever, in any country, seriously!
View out of central Leon

the courtyard Cafe/Bar, open 24/7

the brunch Buffet, imagine some of the best mexican food youve ever had, with little old mexican women making you fresh tortillas for ever plat e you fill

heated indoor pool, yeah Im staying here again

more booze outside

so once we settled in and got fed and boozed, we struck out into the the warm Leon night to explore the city a bit. The town was all about the rally, and it was actually our first contact with the 08 STI last year at all, so it was nice to see a few already modded, along with some other rally cars we came across randomly as we wandered town.

greg gets a closer look under the euro spec Ford Focus RS

random wanderings

police vehicles in Mexico look like something out of Mad Max!

okay thats about it for day one, gimme a second, day 2 gets alot better

Jeremy, honestly next time is on me.
That was one of the most fun times I've ever had. Even though the racing was badass I think we honestly made the most fun during the random nights of ... well ... how do you label it?
Either way who is going next time????? It's gonna be so much fun, who cares if Subaru ain't in it!! It was all about the fun had between it all!
And my carry on "luggage" was the ****! 1970's FTW!!!!!
And is that our car I spot headed south by the mcdonalds sign????
