Overall it was okay. Awesome visuals, good sounds, esp LFE. But that plot... Ugh. Movies are ****ing stupid repetitive these days.
Matrix meets Fern Gully with a twist of Dances and a pinch of Mech Warrior.
The Marines/Grunts were over the top, but the rest of the characters were decent.
Was I the only one trying to catch some smurf native nip slips? (yes, they have nips... yes, you can see some from time to time...)
Yes, I was THAT bored. I just didn't find the storyline that great at all.
If it was more like Halo where marine crash lands and the learns to be native and then helps them fight some great evil creature, it would've been a lot better.
But I can't look past "Neo Dances with Fern Gully"...

i watched it after my co-worker said it was pretty good. I was blown away by the CGI, the story was good, i think the movie had a little bit of everything. Wasn't the greatest movie I've ever seen, but it had enough to keep me watching for 2.5 hours.

Saw it in IMAX 3d, sold out show.
The animation is stunning - totally realistic, except for a couple of scenes...didn't get the hand motion quite right.
I sat 3 rows back from the screen, a little too close for 3D, had to pan my head sometimes to capture the screen - but the audio enhancements - wow, really well coordinated and not over done.
I would like to watch the movie in 2D next time.
I hardly ever go to the movies, just doesn't seem to be worth the price of admission to me. This one is way better than the last couple of movies I've seen, not the story - it's common in lots of SF books, but the movie was integrated so well with the graphics...it flowed and the effects due to the animation were excellent + the sound effects...really well done as a whole, everything mixed right. Worth the price of admission.

I just got back from seeing it in 3D at Pruneyard.
Visually, pretty amazing. The 3D was blended into the texture of the movie in a way that it really just helped with the suspension of disbelief
The plot - well it was a poorly done re-write of "Dances with Wolves".
Worth seeing in the theatre, I think I would have probably not liked it on a small screen

Saw it in IMAX 3D - it was just "meh." The visual effects were good, but the story was so weak/predictable, I'm not sure the visuals make up for it. I understand that all movies recycle plots to some extent, but for a movie that was 10yrs in the making, and cost god-knows-how-much to make, I expected better execution of said Dances with Wolves/Last Samurai/Fergully/Pocahontas plot.
To me, the movie was the equivalent of eating in a restaurant that has fantastic ambiance/views/service, but really crappy food.

Interesting for the visuals and 3d and sound effects. A bit too dumb at times, doesnt offer much originality, etc, etc, but tolerable (get a beer or two and dont even try to take it seriously)
If your expectations aren't high going into the movie then it will be worth your $ especially in 3D IMO.... Simple plot but great visual effects as everyone has mentioned... My expectations were low because I really haven't seen many trailers of it. I enjoyed the movie a lot and it was very entertaining.

The movie was awsome saw it in 3d which made it so much more fun.... Didn't even get bored or have to get up throughout the whole movie and its a long but interesting movie.

And this statement, is just classic

Study enough literature and all plots carry the same elements and have a semi-predictable nature. To say a given film's plot is just a combination of movie x, movie y, and movie z is a ridiculous comparison. The same can be said for any title. Throw enough movies together and you can make a comparison. It's like saying Obama is just a combination of George Washington (President of the United States), Martin Luther King (African American), Mike Warfield (male), Ed Uksusman (married), and Nelson Mandela (Nobel Peace Prize laureate).
Your logic sucks.
