The seller was in a hurry to get rid of them because he was running out of room in his apartment for his new puppy. I paid $650 for the pair and he threw in 4 of his spare Serato control vinyls as well as a pair of Ortofon S-120 needles. With the Ortofons, this was a KILLER deal. I was lucky to have learned on my friends' needles like Ortofons and Shure M44-7's. I had Shure White Labels when I borrowed my friend's tables for a house birthday party I was spinning at (it's my first real live set!). The only thing I had purchased so far was my Serato SL1 setup a week prior to buying the 1200's.

Yeah that is a really good deal. Ortofons are great but I love the M44-7's for the stability and durability. I need to pick up decks again soon I think. Just bought a pair of Rokit 8 Monitors and an M-Audio Profire 610 for production though, so that should tide me for a little while.

Yea, there's no way in hell I'd pay damn near $400 for a pair of needles. That's the price of a spare 1200 deck. LOL. I'd rather build my own frankenstein Ortofon Nightclub needles using blank OE's, stylus, and a couple cheap headshells for about under $200. Heck, I've had solid results with Shure Whitelabels and the M44-7's grip pretty good too, but I like a bit more give for blending purposes, personally. I'm very much still a newbie at DJing, but I did do a ton of homework on the basic gear. Haha.
