I just got done playing about 3 hours worth and here's my review:
I wasn't sure about this game and didn't have much expectations especially since I hadn't heard much about the game unlike all the previous GT's... My friends are GT junkies and none of them have ever even mentioned it, so little in fact that I forgot it even existed until tonight when I saw it at the store. I asked the guy at the counter what he thought about it and he said he didn't like it and told me to pass it up and wait for the real one... He whined and cried about how the physics are way off and that it doesn't have any "cool" cars. --- That guy couldn't have been any more wrong! The game's physics are really great, and the game is packed with some REALLY great cars (can anyone say Ferrari F40!?), and although it's limited to 60 or so cars, there's a good variety and the game play is better then any of the previous GT's. The in car view is friggin AWESOME! It makes playing so much better... You really feel like you're going fast when you're driving with that view, unlike the other views where you don't really have a sense of realism in terms of speed and such. With the in car view you really feel like you're driving, well, a lot more then you do vs the other views.
I finished all the races in the C-Class and started a couple in the B-Class... So far I have 4 cars. My first car was a Honda Integra type R (Acura RSX) which was GREAT as a first car. I then bought an 07 Skyline GTR for fun, then was forced to buy some POS Suzuki Cappuccino to compete in the K-car cup, and won some Renault light weight car after I completed the C-class. In previous games you could tell the difference between each car, but not NEARLY as much as you do with this game! The Integra VS the GTR for example, in previous games you could tell them apart when driving them, and the best way I can describe the new game is to amplify the differences by about double compared to the previous GT games. I loved how the GTR felt... It's hard to explain, but the car just game me more unique feedback VS the previous games... The sounds of the cars was also impressive, not to mention the AMAZING graphics!
Man, Gran Turismo has come a looooong *** way from it's first incarnation, Gran Turismo 1. I played that game so much that I wore out two PS1 controllers (the actual controller broke from excessive use... The analog stick just stopped working in both controllers, lol). I have enjoyed every single installment of Gran Turismo and have played them all religiously, this one wont be any different. Sure, it's not as vast as GT5 is going to be but it's filled with all sorts of greatness that will hold me over until GT5 comes out (lets pray for Feb!). I really like this game and I can't wait to get that Ferrari F40... $450,000 though, lol. That Ferrari F1 car looks mighty nice too, but for 2,000,000 dollars, I doubt I'll be earning that kind of dough any time soon (do you win that car? Is there any way to get the car without having to save up 2million dollars?).
I'm glad I went with my gut and got this instead of some other game, but you guys swayed me into getting it so thank you!
I'm very happy with it, and actually, I'm tempted to turn it back on and start playing again instead of going to sleep.

IIRC, you have to save up money to buy it. i gave up on saving money to buy it, so i just downloaded someone's save file with all the cars. i never had much trouble driving the F1 versions in the old GTs, but in this GT, i'm having a very hard time driving it. it is way too fast. IMO, Lotus 111R Tuned + Eiger Nordwand FTW!

I really wasn't going to buy the game due to the fact that I'm broke as hell until next month, but I scraped up some money I had stashed away for ammo that I spent on this.
Ug, this month is gonna be rough.

Yeah man, I don't understand why people were all disappointed... They knew that it was a smaller version of Gran Turismo 5 before they bought it... What was disappointing? The cars are great, the graphics are amazing, the game play is great, and the in car view is worth it alone!
I'm a little disappointed at the fact that it's a smaller game but I knew that when I bought it... It's a great game and I wish there was more if it to play! I really can't wait until GT5 comes out, I'm so excited!
Anyway try out the Gran Turismo TV feature in the game? As you go along you unlock little video clips of Gran Turismo related stuff... Like the first video which is about 20mins long and shows the making of the game and does interviews with the game's inventor... It's a really cool behind the scenes clip of how the game was made and how much goes into making it. It's an insane amount of work and the amount of detail they put into each car is insane! The video shows you why GT is such a great game... The people that work on it put their lives into it, everything they have goes straight into that game. It makes me appreciate it even more.
I LOOOOOOOOVE Gran Turismo! That game was solely responsible for soooooo much in the real world automotive industry. I know some people (who dont like GT) don't believe this, but I really do believe that Gran Turismo was the reason that the import scene blew up so largely in the USA (and all over the world). Gran Turismo 1 started everything.

It was underground, but to be honest, did not become mainstream until Fast and Furious.
i have mention this before and i'll mention this again, GT5 will make use of the Playstation Eye...GT5 will have "head tracking."
