playing with the interior...

I want to remove the silver pieces inside my interior and paint them flat black.

Like the vent rings random pieces, and the center console around the stereo area.

Is there an easy way of doing this? Or do I have to actually remove the dash setup to access the release points to get those silver pieces out?

Also any tips on what kind of paint to use? And does such a thing exist as flat clear coat so I can protect the paint while keeping it flat without a gloss?

This is what I am aiming for..s204 style.. except LHD

Use plasti-dip. There's a thread about it over on NASIOC

I did the same thing, flat black won't work, fingerprints and scratches really easily. It's not that I scratched through the paint, but light scratches on the surface. I then used gloss black. It doesn't look half bad with gloss black.

flat black works fine...you guys are using the wrong paint.

My recommendations would be to sand down what your painting...scuff it. hit it with primer. then spray it with SEM TRIM BLACK.

its very durable. it's got a slight sheen to it.

primer collects water/grease whatever. do not leave it in primer. Don't use crappy paint.

us old school car guys know our blacks.

The S204 dash pieces are ~$300 if you want the genuine article....not too bad for OEM textured soft-touch pieces.

I painted mine a couple months. It's kind of beat up now scratches here and there but I'm going to redo it whenever I get off my lazy butt.

Oh I also had to ***** my shifter trim and key pics =)
