Question Places to eat in downtown SF for under $35?

Looking for some of your suggestions on the better places to eat in downdown San Francisco. Near Powell, Union Square and close would be good. Prefer it to be under $35 per person and casual, nothing fancy. I don't know where to start.

Anything really, but she doesn't care for seafood too much.

Steaks, chicken, Chinese, Japanese... anything really. Would prefer something non-chain also.

$35 should get you a decent meal pretty much anywhere except for the obvious fancy shmancy places.

Check out the restaurants along Belden Place. It's an alleyway that has about 6 or so restaurants, each specializing in a different region along the Mediterranean - Italian, Spanish, French, etc. Take your pick. I've yet to have bad food at any of the places.

Tu Lan at 6th and Market is probably the best Vietnamese food in the city--and it's dirt cheap.

there are a lot of great places around North Beach! Mario's Cigar Bar on Columbus is good, $35 should get you dinner and a beer or two.
