Ok, I'm a huuuuuge animal perso , but I fail to see how a new bed will help her leg. I can understand how helping with food will allow the owner to divert funds to the vet bills, but the "new bed" seem a little odd, as well as toys for a puppy with a broken leg since most dogs like to run with/chase toys.

Don't most vets have a credit system intact for people who can't afford to drop $1k on their pet at once?

If she took the dog to a few vets I bet one would be willing to work with her.

Some vets are willing to negotiate, but there is also a third party payment plan company. There are also pet insurance companies (too late now) but they or hit or miss.

Ah, I see.

Something seems off about this. If my dog had a "life threatening injury", I would be knocking on vets doors, not posting on CL.

Shes seeking donations.....Vet bills are expensive. My sister just dropped 5k on her pit last week due to some illness and he needed 5 blood transfusions. I'm actually sending her some money right now to help her take care of the bill.

Also, my ex just dropped 8k on her husky like 3 months ago to repair her hip. Trust me it gets expensive. I feel for this girl on craigslist. She's broke, going through hard times and loves her dog. end of story.

Something about asking for donations through CL rather than the established ways to fund vet visits is what makes us weary. Luckily the most I've had to drop on my guy is $700 after my vet gave me some deals on the visit (teeth were cleaned to look for absesses causing his inability to open his mouth: charged for a 10-30 pound cleaning on a 60+ pound dog, he usually nickel and dimes clients for every tool touched during operations, put them all at 0 quantity for me).

Our point is, this just seems like a rather odd way to go about getting help. The non-descriptive nature doesn't help either (what happened to the dog? How much is needed? Etc.) To me it sounds more like due to the tough economic times she just needs help caring for the dog.

Honestly, I think craigslist is a decent way to seek for help (if really needed/legit). CHeck out what she said.

"People are more then welcome to come and meet her too.I would send all vet information to the person so they know that's where the money went to."

If you really doubt her integrity, you should ask her for the vet bills as she is willing to show anyone the bills. I bet a broken leg isn't cheap. If shes a scammer, thats pretty pathetic. But at the end, if the people who are donating to save this dog life believe its true, thats all that really matters. =)

Honestly, she had a couple of other posts before this one which were much more descriptive about the accident, the cost of the vet bills $1.5k and such.

Can't find them under keywords right now.
