screwed up oil change. help...

screwed up oil change. help...
so i was trying to take out the oilpan plug and the threads got all messed up and i cant get a grip on it with a wrench anymore...
any suggestions?
this is my first oil change on this car and i think the previous owner went to a shop that used a gun to bolt it. its waaaaaaaaay too tight.

Did you use a 6 point or a 12 point? If you used a 12, try using a 6. If that doesn't work, try a crescent like someone else said. If all else fails, you may just have to get a replacement bolt.

Rule #1: Get the right tools for the job.
If they're screwed up as bad as I'd be willing to be they are you're probably need something like this. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...id=00952166000
Oh... and I wouldn't go 6000 miles on an oil change. Especially if you use conventional oil and over the counter oil filters... and drive your car hard at all. 3-4000. I usually go about 4000 and I use synthetic 10/40 and try to use subaru OEM filter. I'm out so my last couple changes have been FRAM. No likely FRAM.

If you have this type of wrench called a Metrinch, it could help. I think you could buy these at Sears. If not, I think they have something similar to it. Good luck.
