Pictures of my GN and other cars...

Hey guys,

I've posted several times in the BAIC about my Grand National and some of my other cars and ran across some of these photos while swapping files from my old PC to my new mac. So there theay are. The Grand National was owned b my Father, was worked on be me, and was my daily driver through highschool. She ran 10psi on pump, and 21 on 100. My fastest 1/4 on pump was 12.3xx and my fastest on 100 (actually my Dad's fastest as he was driving that day) was 11.75x.

The DeLorean DMC-12 was actually my Dad's at the same time as well, but I drove it from time t time. It was fun for attention, but not very fast and got really hot due to a lack luster AC unit and windows that only the bottom 4" of which opened. She only had 4,500 original miles on her.

The Corrado G60 was my "beater" for use when I didn't want to risk damage to the GN (like going to parties and stuff.) She was nothing special, just some springs, rims, exhaust, and higher pressure supercharger pulley.

The Turbo T (Grand National minus the appearance package) was my baby. I bought just after I graduated highschool from the same guy who built Chris Chow's motor (the guy who breaks the dyno). I bought her as a maroon car and had it painted silver. I had the motor blueprinted and balanced and she was a BEAST. My quickest runs with her were 12.1 on pump and 11.49x on 100. Unfortunatly about 4 months after she was finished the external wastegate failed and I blew the head gaskest. Since I had already spent all the money I had on the rebuild I couldn't afford to have it fixed, and had to sell her to a fellow GN club member. The last pick is of the motor after B&B before it went back in.

A little trip down memory lane. I love my suby, but I really miss my Buicks. AWD20T should appreciate these pics

Almost forgot these. Obviously the motor is upside down, but that's the only picture I could find of it fully assembled with the turbo on.

Your mom goes to college! Yeah, they were fun while they lasted, but I can't afford those kinds of toys since I'm no longer on my parent's payroll. Now I'm stuck with my faded yellow wrx.

p.s. How the hell have you been John?! Been to any more parties with that hot blond chick?

Grand Nationals are sooo ****ing tight!!!! I like the Regal T-Type as well. A friend from high school used to get dropped off everyday by his mom who used to drive a GN. I have liked them since then.

There has been a GN for sale in Monte Sereno that I see everyday. Visions of a Ken Duttweiler built motor run through my head everytime I see it.

Chris,

Wow man, that GN looks exceptionally clean. I like the black out trim on your T, did that come on the car as a package, or did you have to change it out later? I always appreciate good looking Buicks. Crazy looking motor you put in there too. I wish I could have seen them both run.

Regarding the T; the black out trim was standard on the 'lightweight' model and on most Turbo T's which is what they changed the T-Type name to about halfway through '87. Mine was a Turbo T, so it had the blackout trim stock, and I removed the hood ornament and added the rear ducktail spoiler to make it look like a 'lightweight' model (which is ultra rare). The motors in those things are insane. Just add injectors and they can run 20+psi without a problem. Plus with the old ODB I system you could just slap in a new chip for 100 octane in about 20sec, no prob. Finding these pictures has me thinking of selling my rex for another one. :x

How much is the GN in Monte Sereno going for? With GNs, you REALLy get what you pay for. You can find them out there for like 8k with 100+k miles, but expect to pay out the *** to fix it up to the condition of the one I drove in highschool. Mine (well actually my Dad's) had about 30kmiles. We parted it our and sold it stock for 26k, which is bout right. 26k plus about 4-5k in mods, maybe less if you have a clear plan, will get you the rusults we had. T-types on the other hand can me made to look just as nice and even faster (as they are lighter) minus the collectability factor for about 15-17k. So, if you don't mind missing out on the bling you get one hell of a fast/cheap car. And talk about a sleeper! My T would lose all traction in second gear at 3/4 throttle and start to hook up in 3rd, all with an automatic tranny and granny car looks.

I thought I saw a ducktail spoiler in the pic! I wasn't sure if it was just my eyes playing tricks on me though. Of course being a Turbo T it would have the B.O. trim stock, I deserve a slap for that. Your T is super clean and I would take it over my rex in a heartbeat...

Sweet pictures! Used to have an 87 Regal, unfortunately it was the 307 Olds V8. Nice cruising car, but SLOW

Oooo, I love GN's, but T-Types are prettier, IMO. I'd take either one in a heartbeat. There's an '84 Grand National in the showroom of the Academy of Art building on Van Ness and Washington, and the guy who runs the showroom said I could drive the car if I waxed it, but he never followed through. That SOB. The car only has 80k miles on it too.
