I'd take one of two tactics on a drive like that- one is get set up with a radar detector, a full 20+ hours worth of tunes and probably 2 4-packs of red bull, and just "white line fever" it, stay off the red bulls until about 8 hours into it, but the whole time be traveling at least 10 over the speed limit, you might be able to do it in 16:30-17 hours or so, but you'll be pretty useless for the next day.
The other way would be to give yourself 2-3 days, find some interesting diversion/attractions (twisty mountain passes off the interstate, check out the Grand Canyon skywalk, Route 66, Hoover Dam, 'Vegas, etc.) and make it a mini-vacation.

The straight shot will get you home quicker, but the more leisurely approach will give you a chance to know your new car a lot better

in my Navy days: did Chicago to Truckee in one shot, 25hrs; Fresno to the Oklahoma/Arkansas border in one shot 25hrs, and West VA to the bay in one shot with a 2 hr nap at a hotel in 30 something...that one was rough!

stay away from the energy drinks as long as possible, keep plenty of chewy stuff to munch on, cigarettes help a lot if youre a smoker. around arizona, youre gonna need some stackers or no-doz!...have a safe trip!

I'm sitting in the airport in el paso right now, I have plenty of tunes and I will be grabbing either redballs or sbux double shots for sure. Brought my radar detector is arizona really bad in terms of speed traps? I've been told by multiple people to be careful...and speed cameras?! As in on the freeway??

Yeah Arizona is pretty bad. Theres cameras under overpasses and vehicles on the side of the road that monitor speeders but I think I was told that theres no one actually sitting in them. Anyways be extra careful through Arizona.

Got home tonight at 1am on the dot! Whew...what a drive. I got tagged by lidar so many times, stopped by various border patrols, hid in a gas station behind a semi from a cop who was surely going to pull my *** over (and succeeded!), and lots more lol. I did snap a photo or two, but just of the car when I got it. I'll post up a pic.

Feels good to be in an sti again , but the wallet will soon be hurting from the mass influx of mods :[

I know the drive's been done, but I just wanna brag, lol.

Longest drive I've done was 28 hours, no sleep in between from the San Jose area to the West Yellowstone Nat'l Park entrance in Montana. Only 2 Monster Energy cans were necessary. A large selection of music with interesting and foreign scenery kept me awake.
