Pebble Beach Concours any fun?
Is the Pebble Beach Concours any fun for regular Joes or do you have to be a millionaire to enjoy it? The $200 admission to the Concours itself is a little rich for my blood but there are lots of other events. Is the concours worth it? What of the other events are worth the drive down?

I've been - it's pretty awesome... $200 is brutal though.
You can see about 85% of what's at Pebble Beach at the Palo Alto Concours de Elegance I think tickets are $15

If you can- I think every car person should attend the Pebble Beach Concours at least once in their lives, but yeah it's getting so expensive that many of us won't get a chance, although the last time I went, prepared to pay I think as much as $150 at the gate, I met a guy on the bus ride in who sold me an extra he had for $40.
"Historics weekend" in Pebble Beach/Carmel/Monterey is well worth the trip even if you don't get into the "Concours de Arrogence" as I call it- access to Laguna Seca for the historic races is much more reasonably priced and the variety of awesomeness you can see, hear, and smell there is simply phenomenal, and there is Concourso Italiano and a handful of other events that are really cool, not to mention the Auctions.
Hillsborough and PaloAlto have nice concours events too, but nothing anywhere on the planet is quite like Pebble Beach when it comes to having truly the best of the best classic cars from around the world on display.

I'll second what Pete said. If you're a car person then you owe it to yourself to go check it out at least once. I've been twice in the last four years and each time has been amazing. The quality of vehicles cannot be replicated anywhere in the world. There's so much going on that weekend that it's tough to fit it all in frankly.
The Concorso Italiano is an amazing gathering of vehicles as well though the price certainly reflects that (~$120.00/ticket IIRC). The last time we went they had one of the largest gathering of Ferrari F40s in one place (16 of them!). I've always been a huge fan of the F40 so this was well worth the price of admission AFAIC. The historics are right up the canyon at Laguna Seca so you can fit both of those into one day.
Then there's the auctions going on all weekend in downtown Monterey (RM, Gooding & Co., etc.). Those are great because the cars are parked outside for the most part so you can ogle them all you want.
Definitely worth at least one trip down IMHO. My dad and I try to go every year and we'll definitely be going this year.
