EJ25 table
So after having seen this done before, I decided to try and take a stab at making a table out of an old EJ shortblock for myself. I picked up this shortblock (i believe out of an 05 STI) from a fellow member, took it apart and cleaned it, added some paint, miscellaneous hardware, and a top cut out of a 3/4" thick slab of acrylic, and this is the end result. I'm happy with how it came out!

Sweet looking table, something I would love to do in the future. How much time and $ did you put in? Obviously, shortblock prices will vary, so excluding that.
IIRC, the EJ25 table that I saw, could spin the table and see the pistons move in the cylinders. Did you keep yours intact?

I have wanted to do that too. I want to put Teflon rings in it (or something like that) and hook up a small motor to make it turn over.

The acrylic top was waaaay more expensive than I had anticipated. With material, labor, and taxes it came out to roughly $250, almost as much as what I picked up the shortblock for! That was thru TAP Plastics in Pleasant Hill. There may be other places out there that could've done it for less, but it's something I didn't really look into. I spent another $30-$40 for the paint and misc nuts and bolts.
Yeah spinning the table will rotate the crank and cycle the pistions in/out.

I might just hold on to the spare blown motor in my garage and make a table myself.
Good stuff man.
