passenger HID headlight is malfunctioning

I think the ballast is not working, i already tried changing bulbs, and all the other lamps are ok in that headlight. I also checked for voltage right before the ballast connection and its ok. that pretty much narrows it down to dead ballast. Anyone have expereince with this? how can I replace the ballast, its nowhere to be found online.

part # NZMIC111LACI000

I have a passenger headlight that when i got into my accident, it broke the mount a little... the motor/ballast are in great condition, might be a little far away, but i'll let it go cheap if you find it that the ballast is broke

So what aftermarket brand HID's are these? That would help to narrow down your search a little.

Only reason I state that they're aftermarket is that the part number you've specified ISN'T a part number from Subaru.

Part numbers from Subaru have five numbers, two letters, two more numbers...then either a letter or number depending on the part.

22401AA310 - spark plug

57707AE22A - bumper bracket

^Examples

these are OEM subaru HIDs, and the number is the number from the ballast. Maybe I wrote it down wrong. I'll need to disassemble the light again.

bad igniter

sorry for my ignorance but where is the igniter located? and is it specific to the hid lamp itself or to the whole headlight? because the other lights work in that headlight.

to my understanding of the factory HID, the igniter is the part that the bulb plugs into (04-05), if thats not the igniter then the factory HID must have an intergrated system (if it does, i don't know...). u'll have to talk to someone at subaru i guess?

ok, now i know what you're talking about. its a bit harder to test that one, but i'll know once i try the driver side ballast.

It's a pain to test.. out.. what's wrong with the system.. the ballasts are expansive.. so check ur connections first.. that's what happened to me.. my JDM projectors.. went bad.. and I tried everything.. and I finially figured that it was just a problem with my relay.. but then if you have the direct factory HID.. then it can't be the relay.. borrow a ballast from someone.. and test it out..
Ballast on mine are pretty tough.. so that might not be it

well, I've already tested the voltage at the connection to the ballast and its fine, and I've tested the connection out of the igniter and its no good. so its either the ballast or the igniter. its pretty hard testing between the two unless I want to tap in to the wire, which is the last resort. I figure if I can put the driver side ballast in the passenger side and it works, then I know its the ballast, if not, then I can fairly safely assume its the igniter.

problem resolved

I switched the ballasts, and the driver side ballast made the passenger headlight work. Then when I switched them back, and they both worked, go figure. I have no idea what happened, but I'm happy to resolve this crisis at least. thank you to everyone hwo helped me out and GT35 STI especially for offering to rescue my a** with spare parts, I am still tempted to get them just in case. It looks like the previous owner of these lights has opened them up, because there's latex sealent visible around the edge of the headlight assembly, although they weren't cleared or anything. I didnt see any water or anything in the headlight but maybe the ballast disabled itself and since dried up or something.

any conspiracy theories out there? i'm going with sasquatch.
